A Giving Experiment
Dāna (pron. dahna) is a Sanskrit and Pali word for the spirit of generosity. More on that shortly.
I'm fortunate enough to be part of Cafe Allegro, a coffeehouse and coffee roaster that has been a part of Seattle's coffee history for almost 45 years. The last few years have been rough, and we feel an incredible sense of gratitude for our friends who have weathered the storm(s) with us.
Dāna Coffee was born out of that spirit and a simple thought:
I'm not in this alone, and I'd really like to buy a coffee for everyone who has helped me out.
So here we are, and that's what Dāna Coffee is all about: celebrating simple and small moments of connection by sharing a coffee.
Ok, I'm intrigued. How does it work?
- Allegro provides 1lb bags of coffee at wholesale prices.
- I buy the first 100, and send out links to claim them.
- Anyone who receives a coffee can give some to their friends, too.
- Proceeds are donated to dog rescue charities.
